Fraud
R –v- T & others [2007]
This case involved a complicated and high value ‘carousel fraud’ on the then HM Customs & Excise. The vehicle for the fraud was the buying and selling of fictitious mobile phones by various companies run by the eleven defendants involved in order to fraudulently obtain the reimbursement of millions of pounds worth of VAT.
There was a significant international element to this case due to the fact that to facilitate this fraud some of the companies had to be based outside of the UK.
Again, a great deal of skill was required by our client’s defence team to assimilate and process the huge amount of complex financial material and to prepare this matter for trial.
