R –v –U & others [2005]
Mr. U was the first defendant in a multi-handed trial at Isleworth Crown Court involving an allegation of a conspiracy to facilitate the entry of illegal immigrants to the UK.
It was the Crown’s case that Mr. U and his co-defendants were leading figures in a European-wide network of people traffickers. This case involved a variety of sources of evidence, including the use of telephone intercepts obtained in other jurisdictions and significant covert surveillance.
