Terrorism
R –v- J [2008]
Corporal J was the personal interpreter of General Sir David Richards, the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan and was accused of spying for his country of birth, Iran.
He was charged under the 1911 Official Secrets Act of communicating information that was "calculated to be or might be or is intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy" - in this case emails sent to his contact, Colonel Mohammad Hossein Heydari, military assistant at the Iranian embassy in Kabul.
Again, this case had a strong international and high profile aspect to it and involved complex computer evidence relating to e-mails sent and received by the defendant.
